The Choir's Director

Chanhwi Kim (김 찬휘) was born in 1992 in Masan, South Korea. He has been conducting the Salzburg A-Cappella Choir since October, 2024.

Chorleiter Chanwi KimChanwi Kim started his musical education by stzudying the Cello, finishing with a Bachelor course at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in 2017. In 2019, he was awarded the first conducting diploma at the same university, mentored by Professor Karl Kamper. Currently, he is attending a master course in choir conducting unser Professor Jörn Hinnerk Andresen at the same university.

Chanwi Kim gathered valuable experience as a muzsical supervisor of the operatic choir at the
Munich Theater am Gärtnerplatz with works such as Mass by Leonard Bernstein and Carmen by Georges Bizet. He also worked with the operatic choir of the Klagenfurt theater, where he worked on rehearsals of Bach's Johannespassion.

Aside of conducting, Chanwi Kim regularly appears on various stages in Austria and Germany as a singer, both solo and within a choir. These diverse experiences enabled him to develop both a broad repertoire and in-depth knowledge of operatic, concert and choir music.
